    2019 150r hard to start/ bog

    by Mx98 » Sat Mar 21, 2020 2:38 pm

What’s up guys, new to the group here and was hoping to get some pointers on my wife’s 150r. I got this bike brand new and it’s got about 5 hours on it at this point. The bike has been a pain to start from day one. First time we went out to ride, the bike wouldn’t even start. I took it to the dealer and they got it going and said the air/ fuel was off. Brought it home, started okay, went out the next day and it was a bear to get started again. Went riding the other day (about 50 degrees, 750’ elevation) and i got it started for her, ran okay for a little but was bogging out bad after being started warm.

Anyway, what I’m looking for is if anyone has a solid setup for this bike as far as the jetting/ air fuel goes. I’ve done a bunch of reading but figured I’d just ask before I started messing with it. I’ve read about the R&D power bowl and quick shot also. Anybody have either and think that’s worth it? Want to get this thing running good and hopefully make it a little easier for her to start. Thanks in advance.

Hi Mx98 and welcome to the site.

Can you post up your current jetting as well as any airbox or exhaust mods.
That will help us understand what you have at the moment.

    How fresh is the fuel?

What is your starting proceedure hot vs cold.

Hey Aussiecrf230, thanks for the reply. The bike is completely stock and I haven’t modified it at all. Fuel is fresh as can be.

I don’t necessarily have a procedure for cold starting I guess. Full choke, for the first dozen kicks or so, half choke after that, no choke. Then usually I follow the “clearing a flooded engine” procedure per the manual because I can usually start to smell fuel. Then I full choke it again and after a few kicks I’ll get a little bit of spark. I’ve adjusted the air fuel screw, drained and put in fresh fuel a couple times. This things just frustrating me.
