and my son is very excited. This bike will be 100% trail ridden, so I'm looking for any hints that i haven't seen using the search option.

It has a skid plate, radiator guards, odometer, and twin air filter.

I've read recommendations about adding a flywheel and will be ordering one (from CRF's only of course) but am wondering if i am missing anything else?

How is the jetting/carbs on these?

thanks for any feedback you can give me....

it's an awesome bike! makes me wish i was a 10 year old boy again.

you definitely want to protect the bike with skid plate, radiator guards, master cylinder guard, caliper guard and hand guards. we offer the works connection master cylinder and caliper guards. we have many hand guards but if it has the stock or stock equivelent bend then get the Acerbis Minicross:

you may also consider a rear disc guard:

if it still has the stock jetting consider the JD Jetting kit. Bike can be hard to start and idle if the jetting is not spot on.

the flywheel will help it from stalling but the better solution for most young riders on this bike is the rekluse z-start pro clutch. not only prevents stalling but help manage the clutch. we stock both the flywheels and the z-start pro.

again, congrats to your son. great bike!

Ahhh...yes, kickstand. A must for any trail ridden bike! Good call! There are two available we stock, the Trail Tech and the Pro Moto Billet. Both in the big wheel and small wheel versions.
