I have to use the hot start lever to start my 2007 CRF150r

The bike starts on the first kick when it is cold, the hot start lever does not need to be used. After a minute of warm up and an easy ride around the block, the hot start lever must used to restart the bike, even though it is not hot or been ridden hard. The bike runs great when it is running. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I just had the valves adjusted so they are in spec and I installed a new spark plug. Pilot jet 48, Main jet 135, fuel screw is 2 turns out.

hot start leans out the bike. your jets and fuel screw are a combo that many people run. where is your needle?

You should be good with those from the position of being at least able to start the bike. I would check the float height, and make sure the jets are not gummed up.

Has anything been taken apart recently that could be causing air to leak in when it warms up?

After you asked about the needle I went back and read through the jetting database again. It looks like most people have it on the 3rd grove.

Last night I moved the clip to the 3rd position and turned the fuel screw to 2-1/2 out. The bike now starts without using the hot start lever even after it is warmed up and runs great when riding it around the block.

I took the carb apart and cleaned it and replaced the jets two weeks ago.

I'll be taking it out next weekend so we'll see how these changes work for a day in the dirt.

Thanks for all of your help on this!
