If you were to put the same rider on a stock 2008 and stock 2012 and have them ride the same track, would the rider notice a difference in the performance?

We have a 2008 that runs great. However, we are thinking of getting a 2012 and wonder if performance difference is noticeable.

on a 150r it's more about rider skill then the bike. cornering speed wins. if it's running well i'd keep it and work on increasing specific skills and conditioning.
