    Picking up 2013 CRF150RB Thursday!

    by JCarr1 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 6:21 pm

    Hello from central Ohio!

I made the decision to move my boy from a KLX110 to a new 2013 CRF150RB. I pick it up for him Thursday and have already ordered the Trail Tech heavy weight flywheel and a 14t front sprocket. I called Steahly direct and they recommended the 11 ounce TT flywheel over their weight as this bike will be a trails & woods bike. Bike Thursday - Parts on Friday! He will be out on it this weekend as we're expecting 65 degree weather!

My question is, any advice on what to watch out for or pay extra attention too? I hope to get 2 - 3 good summers out of the bike and want to do whatever necessary to keep the bike running as good as possible! Thanks in advance as this seems like a great community!

    Thanks - Jared

Welcome to CRF's Only! Congrats on your purchase and to your son for having such an awesome dad! It's an awesome bike. Makes me wish I was a kid again.

Break it in properly to make sure you seat the rings. Maintenance is important. Keep the oil topped off and clean. Keep the air filter clean. They are jetting lean from the factory. The JD Jetting kit we offer works great to get the jetting spot on. Don't assume the dealer topped off the oil, installed the air filter correctly, snugged up all the bolts, checked the spokes, etc. Do this yourself to verify the bike is ready to ride.

    Again, welcome!

Mine is five years old and I just have the values inspected and they looked great. You should get plenty of use out of it if you keep the air filter clean, use good quality air filter oil (NOT the spray on crap), and change the engine and transmission oil often along with the filter.
