newbie here, back with more ?? on my idle/starting

08 used 150R. I poseted in the jetting section, but am having issues that may not be jetting related??

Prior owner complained of hard starting, had it re-jetted. Found out later it didn't idle well for him, either.

Should I give it a little throttle to start? If I don't, it won't start well at all. With a little throttle, it starts easy.

Once it's warm, it won't idle.... at all. Either the adjuster is up so high it has a high idle, or if I dial it down it just dies. I can't even really get it to run well enough to mess with the fuel screw, but when it's idling high I can turn the screw all the way in and it still runs.

    Leak is stock
    Main 140
    Pilot was 42, now 48
    Needle stock
    clip stock
    AP stock
carb has been cleaned to death!

Where do I go now? I was told by Tokyo mods that I should replace the plate and/or o-ring on the slide since those can wear out.

I have been told to check the valves.

Can someone here who knows about bikes a little more than me (most everybody) What process of elimination I should go in here? I can figure most of this crap out, but just don't know enough about these 4 strokes to know where to begin next. Back to stock on jetting? Valves? (would they make it hard to start with no throttle and make the idle bad? Is there a problem with the carb in general? Something in the carb I have overlooked? TPS? Float level?(not sure how this affects it) Please shed some light on this before this bike becomes a boat anchor!

definitely make sure the jets aren't clogged. check your fuel screw and adjust as needed. if you're still having idling issues i'd recommend the jd jetting kit. we've had good success with this kit.

The carb has been ultra cleaned. Compr air through all orifices I could find. It can't get any cleaner unless new I think. I put a size 48 new pilot in. Didn't fix it. Was told to check the valves as well, so did that and... found the exhaust to be .20 (spec is .26) and the intake on the left is .05 (spec is .16) and the right side I can't get my smallest feeler under it and it's .04. So, the intake valves are super tight. Also, I tried to check the TPS and I think I need a much better voltmeter.

Keep the ideas coming, esp if you have thoughts on those valves.

yeah you have to get your valves in spec to get this bike to start and run well.
