    engine oil , tranny oil

    by honda crf150rb » Fri Jan 02, 2009 10:18 am

a few days ago i went to change my engine oil in my 07 150rb. the dealer gave us 20-50 oil to run in it. the manual says for 10-30 oil. is there a difference between 10-30 and 20-50? we also went to check the tranny oil. it smelt burnt. we haven't changed it in at least a month. last time the dealer gave us 80-85 hp oil. the manual said 10-40 oil i think so were not sure what oil to run in it. any idea? :?:

well 20-50 is a higher viscosity oil for hot riding conditions
10-30 is a low viscosity oil for normal conditions

the 80-85 is good for the bike's tranny

so if you ride in hot conditions put in the 20-50
but if you ride in cold/normal conditions
buy the extra 10-30 or even 10-40's better

don't worry i run 20-50 in summer and it works really well on my crf250r and my little pitbike 50

Yes, if that cold run the 10-30.

20-50 is a tad thick imo, I run 10-40 in the summer, 80deg. average, race conditions.

well for hot aussie conditions you need all the protection from oil you can get so 20-50 is what a use to race in but when im riding in winter i go to 10-40 and always use motul ;)
