My question is what would you ask and what would you look for ? My problem is I can buy a new 08 for $3800 or a used 08 for $3000 would you even take the risk for $800 bucks? Thanks to all for your input and time to read my post.

has`it been raced, rebuilt, thrashed, who's, ridden it, are the valves been adjusted, anything major, any crashes big ones, check that it doesn't have any unusual knocks in the engine

Spend the extra 800 for the new one thats a no brainer for the same year bike. That way you know what you are getting into. just my $.02
