Clogged pilot jet may have caused all my problems!!

Ok, so I posted on here some problems with "hanging idle" and we were getting very discouraged about the way this thing was running. Anyway we found a clogged #42 pilot jet and a 130 main jet in the bike tonight while trying to figure out why the bike was getting hot. While riding it in the dark, we could see the exhaust pipe turn red so we were looking for a lean issue. The pilot jet was clogged up completely. Now we put the stock 135 Main back in and the new 45 pilot jet. Tomorrow we are going to practice on the track, I will report back with the results!!!

I have an '07 with the same problem. JD jet kit using their jet selections. I've metered the throttle position sensor and set to service manual specs. Tinkered with fuel & idle screws still no joy.

So I break down and take the bike to the shop. They find the 45 pilot jet clogged again. They clean the carb good and the bike ran better, but still had hanging idle. Further inspection revealed no valve clearance and an intake valve sucked up in the head. You would have thought it wouldn't have run at all. So after a new top end everything is great. The bike didn't smoke at all, but showed signs of blowby and lots of wear on the piston. If your bike has much time on it, better check the valve clearance. It could reveal other issues. The good news was the piston didn't show any signs of getting hot or signs of running excessively lean.
