dies at slighest throttle input from idle

    by mcguyver » Sat Aug 30, 2008 12:27 pm

My son's friend has an 07 150r with about 15 hrs on it. The bike sat for about a month. Now the bike will start and idle just fine but with the choke off the slightest throttle blip will kill it. Once you baby it into just a little higher rpm it runs just fine. It is just the off idle turn of the throttle that makes it die. I pulled and cleaned the entire carb. Verified the pump squirt is working.
    Has anybody seen this?

My Bro's 250X did that. Even with the CCC Mods.

Tried the AP mod. No joy. Same problem. If I twist the throttle slowly it will rev and run just fine. One even semi normal twist from idle and it just flat dies......
    Any Ideas?

Does it do it even after its warmed up. Mine will do it cold but after ridding for about 5 min its fine.

These seem to take a while to warm up. try turning up the idle a little. Per the book the idle is pretty high compaired to other bikes.

How is it jetted other wise. What size pilot? Where is the needle?

We had this problem after turning our fuel screw in half a turn. Backed the screw back out, problem solved.

Installed the JD jet kit and problem solved. Strange that the bike had a 145 pilot (stock is supposed to be 140) and came this way from factory. Main was 138.
JD called for 142 pilot and 145 main.
The bike runs clean with fuel screw at 2 turns out.
    Overall power is much smoother.
