    Spark plug change?

    by HRC_NICK_11 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 6:16 pm

Can the spark plugs on the 150R be changed with the motor in the frame? Cause I have tried and the plug boot will not come out with out the frame getting in the way. Any ideas. I'm I just missing some easy trick?

there is a rubber dust cover on top of the rubber piece that goes down into the engine and when u remove. the dust cover and u have to disconnect the wire and just pull the rubber piece out of the engine and remove the plug. putting the dust cover back on is the hard part.

    Step by step:
    1) Remove right side radiator shroud
    2) Reach in, pull the dustcover off of the module, and twist it so that the wire coming out of it is pointing away from you.
    3) Slip a smaller flat blade screwdriver under the little clip in the part that sticks up like this

    __|--|__
    ----^-------this is the clip

    4) Pull of the white plastic piece you just un clipped.
    5) Twist and turn the black rubber piece that goes into the cylinder and holds the spark plug (about 5 inches long)

    6) With a spark plug wrench and 10mm box-end wrench (put around the spark plug wrench handle), loosen the spark plug and pull out.

    ---OR---

Do not remove dust cover, do not unclip two ignition pieces, and simply pull the whole unit out at once. This is faster but more difficult to get back in.

Thanks guys I never thought to unplug it. I'm used to the old style plugs that don't have a plug/coil at the plug.
