what have I gotten myself into??? ;)

Ok being a newbie to the 150R...not even a week into it, I am amazed by all the complaints about starting it. I'm beginning to worry. It makes me laff tho cuz when I went to the dealer to try out my new bike, he was all over me about starting it, don't give it gas etc, etc, etc. Anyways I set the choke started to kick it, on the 2nd kick it fired up revved it a bit then turned the choke off and took off. The sales guy had the funniest look on his face and now after reading all these posts, I believe it was a look of DISBELIEF!!!! ha ha ha. After I got back from my little rip, he was in a hurry to get someone to load the bike for me etc. I'm now thinking he was so HAPPY that the thing started that he just wanted me to take it and get the heck out!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha. Hmmmm who got the last laugh? Anyways do you guys know if there has been a change in the 08's compared to the 07's with jetting etc? I just find it really hard to believe that Honda would leave a bike if there are so many issues with starting it.

So are you saying that it's impossible to start, or so easy you can't believe it?

From everything I've read here, the factory ships them out as lean as possible to avoid emissions issues. A couple other posts in the 150R column have details about how to jet it better... keep scrolling down...

I'm just meaning that after reading all the posts I have been expecting it to be a nightmare to start. But so far it's good, although I know right now it's running really lean and alot of that is I'm sure because the temperature here is still very chilly. The real test will be once the weather warms up. I'm not going to bother changing anything with the jetting etc until we get our warmer weather and I realize what I am dealing with. But I was wondering if Honda made any changes between the 07 150r and the 08 that would change the jetting?

I read that the 07's came with a 40 pilot jet and our 08 had a 38. Our bike was a being a pain to start straight of the floor until the JD kit was installed.

The only time mine is hard to start is the first time each day. I have found that if I turn up the idle some or turn the throttle about 1/8 of a inch and hold it when I kick it will start right up.

After its warm it starts on the first kick with the hot start lever. But it did not do that till I installed the 45 pilot.

Before I installed the 45 I just had to give it a slight amount of gas.

Once its jetted correctly and or you get used to it. Its really not that bad. I let a girl I know ride it the other day. She normally rides a 250 four stroke and was surprized by how easy it started.
