    Rear Brake

    by mikey526 » Fri Sep 07, 2007 2:42 pm

Ok folks, heres the deal. When I spin the rear wheel, it stops as soon as I stop spinning it, instead of spinning for a while and then stopping. I'm pretty sure the rear brake must be dragging on the disc. Oh, and some sections get a little harder to turn the wheel, like the disc is bent or something, but I can't see anything.

Any Ideas? Maybe there is air in the line or something? Iv never changed the fluid or bleed the bakes. I'm not a rear brake dragger, but I do use it enough. Anyone got any suggestions??

    Thanks,
    Mike

Remove the rear caliper from the carrier and see if that's the issue.

Last Friday when I swapped the rear tire, I checked to see if there was anything caught on the pads or something. I didn't see anything, I took the caliper out of the metal slot (carrier?) on the swing arm and cleaned it out where the axle goes. You don't think it is like air or something? If I take off the rear brake cap on the reservoir do you think it will like release any built up pressure?

    Thanks Agent

Pull the caliper off the carrier. Then rotate the wheel to see if the same resistance is present.

If it is, brakes can be eliminated.

If not it could be chain, wheel bearings, chain guide, etc.
