    W.C radiator braces

    by mikey526 » Fri Jun 08, 2007 7:58 pm

Alright. I went riding a couple days ago, and it was super muddy. It was pretty hard to keep my bike up, and I fell a couple of times (like everyone else there :]). After washing it when I got back, I noticed that on the back right side of the right side radiator there was a little dent, probably no bigger than 1/2 an inch. It crushed the fins about 2 inches (length) on the first row of and crushed the second row a little. I don't think this is very bad, but tell me other wise. Also, Because the W.C braces seem like a good deal, I was looking at buying some. But would I have to disconnect all the hoses and stuff to get them on? Thanks.

You won't have to disconnect anything to put them on besides your shrouds.

The WC will give you minimal protection at best.

For a few dollars more, take a look at either the Roosters or the Flatlands. They will give you frontal, side impact and bendback resistance instead of simply the bendback resistance of the WC braces.

at the risk of starting a war has any one checked out the moose radiator guards? very similar to the WC for Yamis that I cant unerstand why they dont make for the Hondas. I like the design.

P.S. I know yours are better lighter prettier more cost effective for the amount of protection they provide, just curious.

  I had to check and see if the Roosters or Flatlands even made guards for the 150R before I posted.

I have personal experience with the WC braces and they are just that "braces". They don't take much to bend IMHO. I have crashed pretty hard with my Roosters and they haven't budged an inch.

I know of a guy who just recently smashed his Flatlands very hard and destroyed them. However the radiators were relatively untouched, thus avoiding a tow out.

The whole idea is to save the rads, not the guards.

The only issues with the Moose is they have no resistance to bend back and no frontal impact. As well as the fact that they don't make them for the 150R yet.

They do look tough as hell for side impacts though!!! That's where most of my damage comes from.

I use Unibikers Rad Guards and I have had no problem with side impacts.

    How old are your UNIBIKERS??

I am extremely impressed with the latest version that they came out with. They redesigned them with stiffening rods for increased side impact protection.

Might be the nicest ones on the market...

Will the Roosters or Flatlands reduce air flow? I'm most concerned with bending resistance; and good air flow is very important also. Is the slightly bent part on my rad. a problem for putting any of these guards, though?

    Thanks guys
