    Crf150r VS. Crf100f.

    by Travito » Sat May 05, 2007 4:31 pm

Hey. new to the site. i've been dirtbiking for roughly 2 and a half years. i'm 14 5'4 and am currently riding a crf100f. where i live (yellowknife nwt canada) the only place to ride is the "sand pits" which is a combination of loose dry sand. hard wet sand, water, and mud. i was wondering if i would notice much of a difference between the crf150r and the crf100f. and would the big wheel be better for my height? will the 150 bog down in whoops or deep sand? any help would be great. thanks

Dude, comparing the 150R to the 100F is like comparing a Lamborghini to a law mower. The 150R is my bike, and I had a CRF80F before that. The 150R is a totally, full-on, hard core race bike. It's meant to be ridden fast and hard, and requires a lot more maintenance than a CRF/F does. Anyway, I think if your looking for a new bike, I'd go with the Honda CRF150F, not the R. If your really into bikes, though, and race and stuff, the 150R might be a better choice. Hope this helped. Oh, and the 150R wont bog in the whoops, but if your worried about getting stuck in deep sand, the 150F might be better since its air-cooled, which means you don't have to worry as much about boiling over.

Travito...welcome to the group. as mentioned, the crf150r is a completely different bike from the crf100f in EVERY way. the 150r is a race bike and the 100f is a trail bike. the horsepower produced is FAR greater, the suspension FAR better, and the handling FAR better. in every way it's a much much better bike. it does require greater attention to maintenance as well.

    good luck...ken

Yeah. I'm definitely more into bikes. out every day i can. usually 3-4 times a week. jumps are my passion but when the landing nearly breaks your ankles from bottoming out i think id need the better suspension. My friend and i were playin around. (he rides ALOT more MX on a cr125 ) and i was showing him up on the jumps. which is pretty sad seeing he has been at it since he was a little kid. ANYWAYS i think I'm ready for a full on race bike. and as far as maitenance ill live. As long as I'm not rebuilding 5 times a summer. That would be a little much. seeing as i only make 250 a paycheck.

    150R VS 100R

MY SON HAS A 2003 XR100 WITH A CHM PIPE,AIRBOX MODS AND JETTED. IT RUNS GREAT FOR A 100 BUT HE WILL BE 13 IN SEPTEMBER AND HE IS NEEDING MORE POWER TO KEEP UP WITH ME. I WAS THINKING OF A 150F BUT I AM NOT SURE THIS WILL GIVE HIM MUCH MORE POWER. I WOULD LOVE TO BUY A 150R BUT THEY ARE RED STICKED HERE IN CALIFORNIA. IS THE 150F(AIR COOLED) A WAIST OF TIME? I WOULD PUT A PIPE AND JET ALSO. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT SIZE UP? NEEDS TO BE GREEN STICKED!

California has silly laws, green sticker (ride year round) and red sticker (ride only October thru June 31)
