    New to CRF's Only - Few Questions

    Hello, I am new to the board, and to the 150r. I have been riding Honda's for 10 years not, and would never dream of anythign else.

    I have a 06 CRF250r and I bought my wife a CRF150r. My bike runs great, its my 2nd one, so I know what to do. Though, the 150 is giving us some issues.

    First, the font end on the 150 pushes BAD. I notice it, and my wife doesnt notice it, but she has fallen 2x, when the fron wheel pushed. Is there any kind of fix without spending a whole lot of money that will help? Lower/raise the forks in the clamp? Or an offset triple clamp? Which ones are good?

    Second, the damn carb is so touchy. I mess with the idle screw to get it to idle and it does, and I adjust it per elevation, but should like 1500 feet matter a whole lot? Also it seems that when I get it to idle properly it doesnt like to r"ev down" (meaning when I rev it up it kinda slowly comes back to idle instead of just coming down like my 250f). I read that a jetting kit might help, but I want to be sure before I tear apart the carb and buy a het kit.

    Lastly, IDK if this is old news, but the my local honda dealer (HB Honda) called me up and I allready have the new, recall cam in. I had this done, 1 weeks ago now. Just wondering if it is strange that I allready got mine done. But it works!

    raising the forks up thru the triples will help plant the front and adding some more preload to the rear shock will also help keep front end planted , just don't add so much preload to rear that bike is a pogo stick !

    Have you set the sag correctly for her?

    welcome to the group!

    1. as mentioned, first set race sag, if possible. i say if possible because she may weigh more than the average kid the bike was designed for. hint: when approaching her about this possibility use EXTREME caution. ;)

    2. as mentioned you can raise the forks up in the triple clamp and this will help.

    3. if neither of these work you may need to purchase product to dial it in. the applied racing triple offers different offsets. bbr offers an adjustable rear suspension link.

    4. on the carb, you need to install the jd jetting kit or the white brothers carb kit. either of these will help tremendously.

    Ok, the sag is set, she is perfect size for it. I have standard mini version, not the big wheel. She is 5'2 and like 105. I will raise them forks up and see if it helps, if not I think I will just get a clamp.

    I was afraid of that answer for the carb, but, I am going to do it. Next time we ride and I have made these changes I will let you all know how it went.

    Hey man. The stuff with your carb is exactly what my 150R was doing. I'm riding at about 1,000 feet, in southern Wisconsin, and mine was stalling and backfiring and not running right about two weeks ago. I drained the float bowl, checked the plug, cleaned the air filter, and made sure the pilot screw was seated right. I adjust the idle a lot, to make sure its right to the conditions im riding in, and now it runs almost perfect. I mean, I got 5th (out of 10) in my first race (a harescramble.) Okay, I guess that isn't very good. I better get the jd jetting kit, so the next race i get first...
