150R stalling and backfiring

How tall do you guys think is too tall to ride a 150R? I'm 13 and haven't grown much yet, and I have a small wheel 150R. Any hight you guys would say is too tall to ride a mini? Thanks.
And also, I live out in Souther Wisconsin and ride at a place called Aztalan cycle club. I took my bike there the other day, and it was super muddy in some parts. On some of the turns, I would pull the clutch in and even if I gave it some gas it would stall. It was also backfiring sometimes too. I cleaned the airfilter and the plug, and it started yesterday on the 4th or 5th kick. I think the backfiring is me (because of the accelerator pump)but im not sure about the stalling. If im completely stopped, with the clutch in and giving it some gas, it still stalls. I have a hare scramble coming up and I dont want to be loosing because im restarting my bike all the time! HELP PLEASE!

First off, just so you know, I have never seen a 150R let alone worked on one, but what your describing sounds like a jetting/idle problem to me. Most of these bike need jetting work right out of the factory (even the racers.)
When you checked your plug, what did it look like?
- Really dark/sooty/wet? (too rich)
- Milk chocolate brown? (okay)
- Very dry or even white-ish on the electrode? (too lean)
If the 150R is anything like the 250R/450R, your stalling in corners could be just the nature of the beast. Turn up your idle and make sure your clutch lever is adjusted well...that should help (assuming there are no other problems.)
Can't help you with you "height" question, but if you're comfortable on the bike, it feels good to you as you sit/ride it, and the bike has the power/suspension to haul your butt around just fine, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Heck, look at the pro MX-ers like RC, Bubba, etc. Those guys are leprechauns and they're riding 450s. It's all about what feels right to you and your skill level. Try sitting on some 250s/450s just to see the difference. That'll be a bigger help to you than anyone's "advice" on height issues.
Hope you get it figured out and good luck with the race!

welcome to the site and your new 150r. it is a jetting problem as mentioned. i would recommend the jd jetting kit. it will clean up the jetting and make the bike much easier to start.

Thanks guys. I was assuming it was the jetting, but my dad and I wanted to get some opinions before we got started on the carb. Before I got my 150 I had a CRF80F and that i never needed to really work on but adjusting the idle and stuff doesn't look to hard... But is it? Also, is the backfiring because of the jetting?
Thanks in advance
Oh yeah, the plug was fine. It was a light brownish color. I checked the gap and it was fine. Thanks, and good luck to you guys too!

"backfiring" is really decel popping and lean conditions will increase this.
it's not hard at all...we have how-to to help you.

Okay. I put some fuel system cleaner into the gas, and used some carb cleaner, and when I rode it the backfiring (decel popping?)was gone. I know that it pops when you slow down, but before mine was backfiring when I was just going normally. The stalling is still there, which makes me totaly sure (I was pretty sure before anyways, thanks to you guys) that I have to get a richer mix of gas/air. Will pulling the main jet out (or pushing it in or whatever) do the job? Or will I have to mess with the slow jet and leak jet also? But, also, do you think getting the idle faster will reduce the stalling?
Thanks in advance

the best thing for you to do is to install the white brothers 150r carb kit or the jd jetting jet kit. both include instructions and will get your carb jetted and running correctly.
