Based on the feedback others provided, you would probably be safe in installing the 48 pilot. And while you are at it you could check the valves to see if they need shimming.

CRF150R valve shimming or valve replacement

    by rickyn613 » Sun May 09, 2010 3:56 pm

Put in a 48 pilot, no luck. Disassembled and cleaned carb. MSR mixture screw 2-1/4 turns out. Seems like shimming is next. If I go with new valve and spring kit do I need to replace anything else? Valve job, Serdi maybe?

    go straight to the valves

I wasted a TON of time on the carb on this, and it never made a difference. As soon as I fixed the valve clearance, the bike ran perfectly. I have a 48 pilot, but will put a 45 in sometime soon. It's just a hair rich.

don't fool with anything else until your valves are in spec!!!!!

Thanks. I will get them shimmed and see what it does. What do you think about replacing the valves/springs/seats/guides since I will be in there anyways? I bought the bike used, I'd say there's probably over 100 hours on it. I figure it couldn't hurt and then I would know what I'm working with.

    Thanks for the help guys.

My daughter has a 2007 CRF150R. Bought it used a couple of weeks ago. This has been a really good post. Her bike was having the same problems. Adjusted the valve clearance today. Exhaust valves were okay. Inlet valves were way too tight. After the valve adjustment, ran great. Still had the idle problem. Replaced the stock 40 pilot with a 48, 2-1/4 turns out on the mixture screw. All problems solved!!!

Well I have the same problem, i have tried everything mentioned in all the threads here and nothing is working. Only thing left from what a few people have mentioned is replacing the throttle plate seal. I will order that and see what happens. Any other ideas?
