    Hare Scrambles- advice?

    by lulu » Thu Jan 20, 2011 7:24 pm

I am looking into doing some hare scrambles this year (it will be my first time racing!). What class do people ride in when first starting (women, by bike size, first year racer)??? Looking for some advice when beginning racing and also if anyone knows of any good hare scrambles near Ohio. Also trying to get into better shape. Any advice would be great :)

Since you never raced before, IMO you should start as a beginner and work your way up. Your class would depend on your age and bike size (CC's)

Normally 00-250 cc would be light weight and 251-above would be heavy weight.

Am no where near Ohio so I can't help you to find races.

I did my first hare scramble in Minnesota two weeks ago. District 23 , don't know if Ohio is still in the district or not , but if its your very first race you can enter the X class. You race and get timed like a normal class but you get no points for it and you can only race in that class once. That's what I raced in. My next race I gotta enter in C class. I did absolutely horrible but I had a great time. I couldn't pull in my clutch on my CR500 after 10 mins, so I had a few issues doing clutch work in the woods. Try out X class, its a lot cheaper too. Other classes cost $35 and X was $10. And make sure your clutch is super easy to pull in. Hope this helps.
