Anytime you ride offroad other than closed course racing area such, as a race track you should use a spark arrestor.
You will never have to worry about ticket that can cost more than a sparkarrestor would, and you'll also feel better anytime a ranger drives by.
Bottomline is we all have to be responsible and follow the rules this will in the end help keep our riding areas open.
There are way to many people trying to close our recreation areas and we don't want to give any ammo to the other side .
Hope this helps in your decision to ride with or without a spark arrestor. :D

Well said John! I have to believe with the dry climate you guys have over there that a person would likely just do it to prevent forest fires, the ticket would be 2nd worry...

man, I wish I had a gold 1970 CT70. It was the first bike I ever rode. I was 8 years old and it belonged to a friend of my father's. I rode it around that guys house a millions times that day until it ran of gas..and then I cried when I had to go home. Been hooked ever since.

We were Camping/Riding at Gorman a few weeks back and my buddy was able to get his bike in after the ranger's were gone in the evening. The next day as we were riding a Ranger approached us as we finished a trail and asked if we had the SA. My buddy said no and the Ranger told us it's a $751 ticket. He let us off and told us to ride it back on the main road and park it. He said he didn't want to see us riding it again until it had one. He even referred us to a shop in Lebec to pick one up. The Ranger was extremely nice and way cool for letting my buddy go. It is not worth it to risk the riding area and it isn't worth it to the wallet. If you look around you can find a used exhaust with a SA or a used Pro Moto Billet for cheap!

I've restored it to good condition, although the valves are toast now. I put a 88cc kit in it. Painted the wheels, updated electrical, seat, shocks, etc... This was my Grandfather's machine he bought NEW and the first motorcycle I ever rode as well. I gotta get the head out for repair asap...

You should. My cousin bought 3 OF THEM for $300. 2 of them ran fine. The guy just didn't know what they were worth. Most people think old bikes are junk. We know differently though. The CT's are a niche market with all the old guys (like us ;) ) that were likely the first bike. The Honda Trail 70. I'll take some pics of mine someday. Took a bunch of work to get it back in shape. I love that thing...
