    new here - Mohnton PA.

    by ibow24 » Sat Mar 14, 2009 6:15 pm

    Hi all,
I'm just getting back into dirt bikes since being away from the sport for about 12 years.
I live in Mohnton near Reading PA.
Can anyone fill me in on some places to ride in PA.
I used to go to the Tremont area but now I believe the area is controled by Raush Creek Trail Riders.

I would like to find so other leagle places to ride.
    thanks
    Steve

i dont know where in pa you are exactly. but i found 2 cool sounding spots and not expensive at all.

    Majestic Trails

    The Lost Trails

look them up and see if they are close to you. i havent been to either yet so i cant tell you how they are.

I think they're both west PA. I'm east Pa. Far enough away that it would need to be a weekend trip to make it worthwhile.
I purchased a Reading Anthracite permit and have been searching for good spots on their land. Something like 20,000 acres within an hour of my house.

no the poconos spot is north east. its about an hour and a half away from you.

    1200acres. 51miles of trails.

its north east from you. the other place i listed is northwest. and yea about 3-4hrs from you.

but 1 1/2hrs to ride for the day legally isnt bad.

thanks...looks like a fun place to ride.
Not too sure it's such a great deal price wise.
They should offer a membership but then scrap the daily fee for members. I'm going to try it for a day for sure though. Should be a little over an hour ride for me.
    thanks

We are going there tomorrow. So i will post up about it and let you know.

Well i was just reading on their site. yea there is 3 different ways you can ride there.

-pay $35 for the day only
-pay $100 for a year membership. and then each time you go back its only $20.
-pay $250 for a year membership and dont have to pay anything any time you go.

But yea, it would be cool if you can pay the $35 to see how it is, then if you like it, take the $35 out of whichever membership you want. Im sure if you talk to them they will do this. probably if you pay them that day for it all though.

Either way, Its not bad for a legal place to ride that isnt too far. its a 2hr ride for us and we are loving that. consider this very close for some good riding.

Ok. just got home from an awesome day of riding. The Lost Trails is pretty good.

Big place. miles of trails ranging from easy to...well you better turn around.

Its a little rocky. it is on a mountain though. Had alot of nice spots you can open it up on though.

there are alot of ruts from atvs. but not too deep to where its hard to ride in. It makes it pretty cool when turning. Just slide into a rut and gun it out.

Overall, i like the place. We are defintely going back alot.

There are some cool spots with jumps and stuff also. they are making a nice track as well. not ready yet but soon.

I brought my camera but memory card was messing up, so couldnt take any pics.

But hope this helps you decide if you want to go up. Not crowded today at all. never really seen anyone in the trails.

I'm going to St. Clair Saturday morning. Maybe next weekend I can hit Lost Trails.
I wonder how crowded Lost trails gets on a Saturday.
I searched MSN maps and did the "birdseye" view. I don't know when the picture was taken but the parking lot looked packed full.

yea, they said on weekends (sat and sun) it can get pretty good crowd.

but they did say, being that all the trails are 1 way, it never really seems packed to where you cant ride or something.

You can have 200 people there and there is still crazy room.

What is up at St. Clairs? legal? illegal?
