Roscommon ride; October 13th and 14th...

    by Malindor » Wed Oct 03, 2007 9:03 am

Heading up to Roscommon on the aforementioned dates. I will be hitting both Geels trails and trying part of the Big Bear. This area has a lot of hardwood trees so the color should be rather nice this time of year (yeah, I am a phag that likes the fall colors).

I will give a report of the trails when I return if anyone is interested. Also if anyone is in the area, I will be on my bike and my nephew will be on his King Quad.

PM me directions to your place; Irish Hills is not too far away and my nephew knows about your place and also wanted to try it. Perhaps we can make it by, remember we are both beginners on the bike. I do have HAP insurance, lol!!!

Makes me wish I was home and not at school. I am from Houghton Lake. I love the Geels loop, its a lot of fun and a little of everything. I'm in the other Houghton that MI has right now going to school or I would be there. Have fun and let me know what kinda shape the trail is in.

Sure will; I am also looking forward to the "infamous" slop section where the water collects and makes lots of messy mud...

Wait, you mean basically all of that area! No, up there its not too bad. By Houghton Lake and a little north on the west side of the lake there is a lot of swamp and nice muddy stuff. Thats why I like it back home so much, there is some of everything, mud, sand, rock, hill, flat. Where I am now its mainly hill and rock...lots of rocks.

The portion of the trail that I was refering too, is not that large of an area; perhaps 3/4 of a mile and the rest is pretty much as you describe it. This is the North Loop of Geels...

And no ride for me this weekend; because of life happening...

Water heater blew doing laundry last night as well as a minor leak in my roof from the heavy rains the past few days. Guess I will be having fun doing home maintanence as opposed to ripping up the trails!
