    Dual Sport setup in Colorado

    by TJ » Thu Jun 19, 2008 7:55 am

With gas prices the way they are I am thinking about getting my 05 450X dual sported. How hard is it to get it licensed? I am going to be getting the dual LED and brake switch from CRF'S only. The horn and mirror no big deal, get that any where. I am buying some D.O.T. rated dual sport tires because I need new tires anyway.

What else am I missing? What should I expect when I get the bike inspected. How hard is this process?

More frequent valve adjustments and top-end rebuilds. ;)

I was kind of hoping to hear from someone in Colorado who has done this already and might have some tips to save time instead of going to 30 different places to get the paper work done maybe only going to 5.

But as always everyone opinion is welcomed. I really likes the mirror on the bark busters. That was trick. Thanks for the website.

i live in vail, co have had my 450x licenced here for a year and half and did not have a promblem. if you have a mso you need to take it to the title burea and get it sent out to get a title then get proof of insurance on the bike take that the title and the bike to police or state trooper have them do a vin check on the bike and check the bike (only thing you need in colorado is tail light, brake light, mirror and if they want to get real tech. dual sport tires and ya and a horn. i used a clown horn.)

cop was more interested in the bike and were to get one!!

most dealerships do vin checks also for 10.00 the insurance is the most imporntant to the state . make sure all youre i's are dotted and t's are crossed they are picky. d.o.t. tires are an option depends on youre %of on road.
