wife and I will be relocating to colorado springs from ohio this fall. Hoping to get some advice from the locals here......

How much snow do you actually get in town through the winter? (do we need to upgrade wife from honda prelude to something better suited?)

I've spent the past 7yrs of my life as a test engineer for an automotive manufacturer with a mechanical engineering degree. Any advice on applicable employment in the area?

we know the area generally and will make a trip in July to look for an apartment, any additional advice or considerations would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

The prelude will do good, just put some good tires on it.
As far as snow is concerned we usually have pretty mild winters. This last winter was very little snow, but the year before that I got about 60'' which is pretty rare for the 30 years I have lived here. Sorry no help in the job area, but I am sure you will find something. Its a great area with good riding I am sure you guys will enjoy it.
