Washingtonians!!!!
There is the ORV rally coming up this Friday at the capital. If you can make it please come. There are a few bills coming before our state that could stop ORV riding all together. And I don't want to hear "it will never happen" WE have to fight because one has gone through the first committee and only has one more before a full senate vote. It's the noise bill 1434 and in there it states that if an ORV is "plainly audible" it is too loud. There is NO decibel limit! Capital Forest will close; all tracks will close. This is something you need to write to your rep about. A normal person talks at 65 decibels and this bill wants to limit an ORV to 45 decibels. The people who wrote this just don't understand what a decibels is or (I think this is the main reason) they want to ban ORV's and this is the only way they can do it legally. WRITE - CALL!!!! NOW
spred it!

woodsman, hope you're coming to the rally. We want to fill the steps. This is ONE of our biggest fights yet. I'm sure there are more to come. Get your riding buddies together and write or call your rep and let them know. You have a wonderful area to ride, don't loose it. Hope to see you at the rally.

Motomom, can you post the same info in the Land Use Issues section near the top of the page in the list of topics? Everyone should see this, even if it's too late for the rally today.
I'm an Oregonian, but I ride occasionally at Jones Creek outside of Battleground, WA. The Jones Creek Trail Riders Association is also all over this and I think they are organizing their members to participate (I am not a member but read their website often).
Good luck to all...

The rally had a great turn out. The organizers said they had 500 shirts to give away and ran out by 11am. So there were over 500 people there. The senators behind the bill tried pushing for a vote the day before the rally. But a few of the senators on our side made them put it off until after the rally. The senate was supposed to vote on it yesterday afternoon after the rally so we filled the gallery. The put off the vote again. From what we hear from our senate supporters, they have enough to kill it. But this will be a continuing fight.

That's alright, I know you were there in spirit!
Here's a link to "Upfront with Robert Mak" from KING 5, they did a nice story. It doesn't show the whole thing but you will get the jest of the story and how smug kline was.

Also, heres the link to their blog on the subject. Let them know how you feel, in a nice way. No snobs here, only down to earth people.

Also, if you can join the NMA. That or just the mailing list. They will E-mail you with very informative articles on new legislative acts and propositions, etc etc.
NMA=Northwest Motorcycle Association if you didn't know.
They also have a really good article about what you can do right now for land use issues on their website.
NMAOffroad.org
I actually had a letter published by them in Trail Rider.
