    Kingman, AZ ???

    by NCLR1 » Wed May 23, 2007 8:57 am

Well, my wifes family owns some property out in the deep dez. We are planning on going out this weekend and I got the go ahead to bring the bikes. So, does anyone know anything about this area, riding wise??? It's around Kingman.

If nobody hears from me by Tuesday, you know where to look. Go out to Hackberry AZ and look for the biggest hill, I will be planted on the other side with a smile on my face.

The riding this weekend was great. There is still a lot more that we did not get to ride, so more trips are in the works.

PS. I got to see a rattlesnake up close and personal for the first time. Needless to say it didn't live very long. Scary though.

Did you visit that website I gave you? If so, was it any help. Just curious if I should pass that on any more.
Glad you had a good time.

I am not sure if it was an official OHV area or not, but there were some hills with trails. Everything was wide open, I just figured it was a local spot. I saw a lot of people with no helmets on and what not.

There's kind of a new old place that used to be where they held sand drags. It was bought by a racer and reopened as a motopark. It's at the end of old Route 66. Kind of a pain to get to. It can be seen from the I-40 and Route 66, but to get there (the other side of the tracks), you have to go through some residential area in old Kingman to old Route 66.

Is this what you were talking about?

I don't know if that is it we contacted the kingman chamber they told us that we go up to the hualipai ranger station Pay your money day or staying over night he will give a trail map so I figured it was in the mountains I heard about it on the radio the same day it was opening. The reason I keep trying to figure out where it is so we can make a trip to the cooler area when it is summer in bullhead I know it is not much cooler up there but there are trees just a nice get away never ridden on trails like that always desert. What is the motorpark place.

Duh, my bad. We just rented a cabin up there a couple weeks ago. I haven't ridden up there yet, but wouldn't mind. I read somewhere the trails are intermediate to adavanced.

From Bullhead, come around 68 to 93 and into Kingman. Go under I-40 and make a right on Andy Devine (Route 66). About 2 miles you'll come to Stockton Hill Rd/Haulipai Mountain Rd. Turn right. Drive up mountain about 12-14 miles to ranger station. You can pass it, but you can't miss it.

I think it's $5 for day use and $12 to camp. Cabins are $60 and up on weekends. They have a few RV/trailer spots, but I don't remember the cost for those or how many actually have hook up.

The Hualipai's are beautiful. Tall pines, great trails and plenty of wildlife, (Not the SoCal type we moved away from) Elk, deer etc. We have 4X the area many times and rarely ever see others on the trails. Just past the ranger station is the Hualipai Lodge excellent food and in the evenings the Elk and Deer come in to the area and you can watch them while you eat your dinner. There is a large picture window at one end of the dinning area, they put out hay to get them to come in for viewing. I'll try to past some pictures later.
