My son, my bro-in-law and I are going to El Mirage on Saturday. We have never been there before and it would be cool to meet up with someone who has. Thanks in advance.

I SOOOOOO would love to but i'm a red sticker. The lakebed is cool if you feel like testing your bikes speed against all the 2 strokers out there.
If you like trails, when you enter el mirage, go up the main road and about another mile once the road turns to a dirt road. You will see two out houses on the right hand side. I reccomend setting up near this area. Get on your bikes and go north a little bit and take any of the trails to the right. They go on for quite a while with hill climbs and what not. You can ride for hours out there just watch the hills, some of them have steep drops on the other side.
Have a blast bro and watch out for the quad tards.

Well, I like Joe L. He dominated his fight. But, the Emerson/Hill fight sucked. I know of Emerson cause he is local and I thought he was much better, but he let the opportunities to win slip right by. Disappointing.

El Mirage was cool. The kids liked the lake bed.

Looks like we are going to try and head to El Mirage again this Sunday. Hopefully we will be bringing the entire family. I told my wife that if all she is going to do all day is lay around the pool and get a tan, than she can do that at the beach on the lake bed.

If you like El Mirage, you'll love Johnson Valley. Added drive time isn't much, maybe 20-30 minutes.
Are they charging for access yet? I remember a few years ago, maybe more than a few, when they started fencing El Mirage, there was talk about charging for access.
I remember a long loop me and a friend used to do there. We had about another 15 minutes (so we thought) back to the truck after a 4 hour ride and all of a sudden there's a fence that wasn't there a few weeks earlier. I think that was late 90's. The last time I was there was '03 and it almost felt clostraphobic (?) with all the fences.

I only saw fences on the entrance side. No they aren't charging an entrance fee. Some of the side trails on the back were blocked off, but the main one was open.

The wife unit says that El Mirage is too hot this weekend so she gave the all clear to head up to Gorman on Saturday.
