Hi I was wondering are there any tricks or valuable info a person should know when servicing or rebuilding front forks and rear shock on a '06 CRF 250X ?
Mine is very weak/ soft right now both front and rear ,and I'm sure it needs oil changed and I was even thinking of changing up to stronger springs in the front and rear. I was thinking of upping to a heavier weight oil aswell. It was fine but I'm heavier and bigger than last year 167lbs now 185lbs.
The local dealer wants $350-$475 to service and replace the front fork oil and change up to a .48kgf/mm set of springs. I think they wanted around $300 or so to do the rear and up to a 5.8kgf/mm.

I would send them to someone else...they are way high on their prices...even in Canadian dollars they are high...

We would do that same service @ $ 85.00 labor, full rebuild kit (bushings and all seals) $ 71.36, Spring kit $ 109.00, Fluid $ 21.00, for a grand total of $ 286.36.

Are there any "How to Articles" on doing the front forks or rear shock?
I do agree the prices at the local dealer are quite high and it only gets worse because we have to travel an hour round trip to that dealer and the next closest is five to five and a half hour round trip.
My dad was looking at the manual and he's not very confident about there info . The stopper tool they show when servicing the front suspension looks quite thick but the diagram and info in our Honda manual states it's 1.0mm thick.
He's a welder and machinist and can make most if not all the tools but need the correct info and list of odd or specialty tools we will need.
The manual lists 5W oil can a heavier weight make a very noticeable difference?
