    by hondafan » Thu May 11, 2006 12:16 pm

Hey guys! ive been taking creatine monohydrate to get stronger and the last few times riding ive noticed i dont get arm pump anymore and i can ride all day long now! this is some good stuff and has no side effects! i strongly recommend it if you are working out too cause my strength has increased dramatically and so will yours. im always ready to ride now. i think its helping me sleep well also. its awesome.

    creatine BAD

    by drbsandler » Mon May 29, 2006 7:16 pm

Hey, Creatine is BAD. I'm an Emergency Physician and I just saw a guy in the ER who went into renal (kidney) failure from routine doses of creatine. Dialysis is no fun. Yes it works and yes it's dangerous.
PS anyone want to ride MX in the denver area? always looking for people to ride with

Creatine has been proven safe when used right. I know several body builders that have been using it for 20 or more years and have had no problems from it. There are alot of medical articles out there on this subject. A good site to visit for good nutrition and fitness information is www.freetrainers.com, a very good site and it is free.

It's like riding MX on a busy sunday. You'll probably be OK but you can get seriously hurt.
Eat Good, lift weights regularly and get as much aerobic exercise as you can whether on your bike or elsewhere. There are NO SHORTCUTS when it comes to fitness. I've been an emergency physician for 15 years and lifting weights for 25 years. I've read almost every 'scientific' article out there on creatine. There's a big difference between an article in men's health writen by someone with an exercise 'degree' and a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled scientific study in a medical journal. Don't believe everything you read. I'm telling you, there are a lot of reported cases of renal failure from routine recommended doses of creatine.
Every shortcut comes with a price.

That is the bottome line, and what everyone tries to get around. Trying to find the easy way, without all the work and sweat. I personall believe that any UNNECESSARY drug you put in you body, protentionally can do you more harm than good.

i wouldnt believe they could sell you something that would hurt you seriously. i say with any legal drug: that if you follow the dosage instructions, you have nothing to worry about, especially with a substance such as creatine, which your body produces naturally anyways. the only negative side effect i notice is your crap is green and runny during the "loading phase". no biggie.

If you don't believe 'they' would sell you something that would hurt you, you're nuts. The drug companies care about one thing, and one thing only, money. They don't really give a sh** about you. Plus creatine and most other supplements on the market are not controlled by the FDA, as they are marketed as nutritional supplements, not medicine. There is very poor control of what goes into supplements. Just like all the stimulant diet aids, ie. ephedra, ephedrine, ma-huang......every over the counter diet supplement has alot of stimulants in them. Ephedrine was banned by the FDA a few years ago, yet all the drug companies continue to use it in their supplements by changing the name of it a little, then marketing it as 'ephedra-free'. I may sound jaded, but this is all true. I just have a beef with the drug companies screwing up the country's economy for their own benefit.

I tried it once back when I was big into lifting and it does work.
The thing you have to watch out for is your mussels will get strong allot faster than your tendons and ligaments.
So if you lift heavy it puts you at risk of tearing a ligament.
I got really bad joint pain from it because of this and discontinued use immediately.

I've used it to lift so.. I would have a faster recovery time to lift again it worked. Never really noticed anything when I raced or rode.I did put some weight on though along with some muscle.I don't use any of the crap anymore!! I just eat better and I have better results now.

Creatine is not OK, I take protein shakes (nitro-tech) and decided to try the creatine... NO! Not only did it make me moody, but it totally messed up my stomach. Eat healthy and have plenty of fruits and vegatables and you will have plenty of energy, Mcdonalds all day then creatine isn't a racer diet but I see it from time to time. You must balance your meals, make sure you have good nutition and you will see results, no designer muscle mixture can make you truly fast!
