    Cortisone Shot

    by SaintPete » Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:20 pm

2 years ago I tore some cartilage in my shoulder during my "introduction" to 450's. I never had surgery, instead opting for physical therapy instead. Well, my shoulder got stronger and I pretty much have full range of motion (if I take it slow), but I still have sharp pain in the same spot and it aches pretty bad after a day at the track. In other words its definitely not back to 100% even after 2 years. I was wondering if a cortisone injection would get rid of that sharp pain and how long it would last?
This is mainly a question for Dr. Mark but I'd appreciate any advise from anyone who's had one of these before.
    Thanks!

I think a cortisone shot is worth a try. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to a hopefully less painful winter riding season!

...I struggled with tendonitis in my shoulder for about a year before my physician would give me cortisone ("It could make your connective tissue less elastic")...I don't know if it'll work the same for you, but after ONE injection (didn't hurt), the pain was GONE and never came back. Good luck!
