I assume the doctor said no to surgery.

Most cases of shattered bones do require surgical work to heal properly and prevent problems in future.

Do what the doctor says and don't go back to riding to early, less you drop the bike and your both injured.

I feel your pain for not riding as I will be off for months to my heart problem improves. I have new boots yet to be worn in anger so twice the pain.

Mmmmm Coffee - I am just get through heart failure so no real coffee for me. There isn't a decent tasting Decaf anywhere I have found.

It could be worse you could have two broken wrists.
You would really find out who loves you come toilet time.

Takes 6 weeks for bones to heal (typically). The rest is recovery time. With having a shattered bone, I'm not sure why the docs said no to surgery. I would have been insisting on it...

the ankle is a very difficult joint and even some very good orthopedic surgeons won't operate on it even though it may be the best option. you should absolutely find an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the ankle and get their opinion. i did some serious damage to my ankle playing collegiate racquetball and had three sports orthopedic surgeons look at it independently and got two votes for no surgery and one for surgery. with something this important get more opinions.

best of luck to you in your recovery.
