I've had 2 spills in the past year where I banged up my left knee pretty bad... I think it's time from some knee pads. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I am looking for something comfortable and not too bulky.

OMG i feel your pain man. I'm new to riding and like a fool i was trying to do wheelies when i ate it and f'd my knee up pretty good. I purchased a pair costing around 50 bucks and i forget they're on once i'm riding. I'll get the brand name for you tomorrow.

The first time I fell was when I was trying to avoid a ditch that suddenly appeared in front of me...and I went over the handle bars...

The second time I fell was when I was trying to avoid a head-on collision with a first-time quad rider who decided at the last moment to drift in front of me. Pissed me off and I lost my watch in that crash too!

Haha man i destroyed my knee too about a year ago now. I don't know what it would be called over there in the US but here in Australia there is a vitamin that helps joints called Cosamin DS. Its advertised in moto magazines and a couple of pro's over here use it so it might be worth trying to find something like it over there.

I recently had to start wearing knee pads as well and ended up with the thor quadrant. Great protection and comfortable.

I like the double hinged style that strap on top and bottom.

I also have the Thor Quadrant, and they are working great. Comfortable, and nothing to tear up your pants either.

Thanks guys! I will take a look at the Thor Quadrant. Comfort and easy on/off are key for me and it sounds like this model may be the ticket.

I gotta do something...my knee still bothers me a bit...

Buy the best that you can afford. That doesn't necessarily translate to the most expensive, but get something. There are plenty out by different vendors that are way better than nothing.

First off I think you would have to be a fool to ride with nothing on your knees. So get something.. anything. My first ride out when I got my bike I dumped it and bashed up my knee really good. So I know how stupid it really is.

I also have 661s. The thing I like and others may not is that the style I have DOES NOT tuck way down into your boot. I did not want to alter the way my boots fit....perfect. They have a large plastic knee cap and strap on nicely. Your boot top ends where the knee pad starts so you are covered. They are large but I have sustained no knee damage since getting them and I spend a lot of time on the ground.

Since i dumped my bike trying to wheely i wear as much protection as i can strap on. LOL i'm robocop on wheels. I liked these because it protects my shin's from those trees that like to reach out and touch you on the trails.

I am going to try to visit a couple of cycle stores and try some knee pads on. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will be making a purchase soon. My knees will thank me!
