    Arm Pump

    Hey i need some help! i took a long break from riding (yrs) now im back in action and i cant last 2 laps with out almost falling off from arm pump... whats the best way to fix this for example what would you suggest to maybe strenghten the muscle of make the arm pump results not so bad. yes yes i know riding more is the best solution i appreciate all your comments and help

    thanks a lot for that info however all i found that could apply was to stretch and regular exercise. which i will work on.

    Do a search on your favorite web engine for arm pump. You should get quite a bit of info.

    Theres much more out there. In the short term, ride relaxed, warm up, stretch, stay forward, check the cockpit to insure that everything is adjusted to you, BREATHE...

    My Scotts helped a lot. Left index finger on clutch for shifting, right index on front brake, hold bars with looser grip and I get a workout but no more "arm pump". I don't have to worry much about the bars getting ripped out of my hands anymore.

    well after a week or so and some more track and trail riding I'm starting to feel more comfortable and my endurance is increasing. my arms don't seem to be bothering me as much. i try and take every opportunity to Relax, breath, ride towards the front, in complete attack position extending the elbow's up and out, squeezing my legs on the bike and keeping things loose on the grip whenever possible. thanks for the advice i will update you on my scrawny arms and how they are doing hanging on to the powerful, and beast like 450 R!! thanks again!

    Here what works for me. First an hr or 2 prior to racing i pump up my fore arms using weights or if i'm driving i contract my for arms and relax them like doing reps for about 20 minutes total. The aim is to stretch out the skin and muscle this is done by pumpimg them bad boys up. That way when you ride blood can get back out of your fore arms because you've mad more room for all the blood. Arm pump= compartment syndrome. The other thing to do is take aspirin it thins your blood out letting it escape your forearms easier. I take 324 mg. The other thing is obvious hydrate well, and ride as much as you can, Relax your arms in the air, breathe sounds simple but i remind myself it helps, use those leg's hope this helps.

    I raced on Sunday for the first time in 2 months. I didnt think i'd finish the first lap due to severe arm pump however once i relaxed my grip & my head I started to enjoy myself, my arm pump completely disappeared and i rode consitantly hard for 2 more hours. The key is somewhere between your head & your grip...relax both and enjoy mate! 8)
