Went riding at Hollister today and we were just on a warm up run (me and my friends dad) all he was wearing was his helmet not dressed yet or anything. Its a 200 KTM exc and they just put a new needle in it cause it was running fat. We are just riding on the main road went up and back down radio ridge and on the way down he gases it and gets it straight up! Ends up flipping it. Hes able to ride back but then he sits the rest of the day. We get back to San HO and he goes to the emergcy room cause his anckle is really sowlen. Turn out he tore some ligiments and will be our 6-8 weeks. We were countin the days till clear creek but its not happing now.

seems like the most accidents we hear of are near or around the staging areas.
i have personally broke a rib in my chest, warming up in a wash, 1/4 mile from my truck. rode 91 miles that day, then suffered for the next 30 days. and yes i was in full gear. when slamming the side of your upper torso into the ground, nothing you are wearing will help.

Seen so many accidents happen when just "warming up" or "testing"

I always get fully dressed out before riding but that didn't prevent me from slamming my shoulder into the ground hard one day. I was the first one ready, first one on the bike and I tore off into the desert not very far, and I got squirrely and went down hard. Took my breath away! I got the bike up, leaned on it to get my breath back and then rode back. Nobody else I was with saw a thing. My shoulder was hurting for three to four months. No matter how much you wear, stuff still happens, and I am so glad that I at least had what I had on.

Whats a warm up run? When you start riding before you dress because you're too lazy to put your stuff on. Thats the time to pull a wheelie..oh yeah, a helmet, swim trunks and flip flops. DUMB*SS.

I ssaid I would never ride without a helmet and I said I would never ride on my neighborhood streets.

I mowed my lawn, put away the mower, hopped on the bike and I rode 2 full circles very slowly in my cul-de-sac with no helmet, I hopped off and put the bike away.
I feel incredibly naughty/guilty.

But seriously I would never ride more than a few feet without full gear. (now that I own the gear)

He usually rides a warm up run cause it is his sons bike and he cant start it and is new on it so he warms it up for him before he goes and rides.

OK, flipping the bike is quite a warm up. Does he do backflips for the encore? A kid who can ride a 200 2 smoke and can't start it sounds pathetic. An ounce of jetting equals a pound of easy starting....sorry for being mean but it sounded like what he did was STOOPID.

hahaha, well ive broken something in the service park, with all my gear on, i was helping a friend offload his bike and slipped on the bed of the truck (note to self:do not climb on truck bed with steel tipped boots!) hit the side of the bin and dislocated my shoulder!! yes im an idiot....

Since it sounds like confession time, here's mine.

I was 'testing' my spanking new 05 450x on the street in front of my home after making some mods.

Foolishly w/o a helmet and in shorts. As I was traveling all of a sudden two other cars got in a wreck in front of me (too much detail to explain here). Suffice to say, I had to lay the bike down on the road. The rear wheel hit (although almost stopped by then) the rear car's rear wheel. It sent me spinning into a (fortunately newly disced) field along that part of the road.

The bike took nearly zero damage. I ended up with a beautiful gash on my knee from a peg (four staples fixed that).

In any event, could have been WAAAY worse.

By the way, please leave the "what a dumb @ss remarks out of your replies. I've gotten enough of crap from my buddies to last for several more dumb things I'm not planning but will nonetheless do in the near future.
