    Need Help! 2017 crf 250l

    by jayizzo1918 » Sun May 16, 2021 10:48 am

I just purchased a used 2017 crf 250l with 7K miles. When i test rode the bike it started right up and the brakes felt squishy. The original owner stated that the brakes would possibly need to be bleed. Nothing to hard i used to do it on my ninja zx10r all the time. So i decided to order some braided lines from this very site which came in the mail promptly and are great. My problem is after installing lines now i get NO pressure from the brakes. I attempted to bleed them but i get nothing. Should i bring to a mechanic or is this something i can fix.

P.S. - i dont want to take to honda dealer cause i called them to see if they could remove a screw that was stuck in the front master cylinder. They gave me the "oh its 25 minimum and if we cant fix it and it takes longer its so much an hour plus tax and all this bs....

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

Are you using a Vacuum Bleeder ??? , ,you have to use one on these bikes , it will not just pump up , it will get air pockets , usually in the caliper behind the piston , and it is a bear to get out , sometimes if you manually push the piston all the way in till it bottoms , then start over , it will force the air out when the bleeder is cracked open ... so you put pressure on it , with a C Clamp or something to hold pressure , then slightly release the bleeder then continue to push/turn the clamp till it completely bottoms , you should get fluid , but also air , then close the bleeder and remove the clamp and start fresh filling the master , and pumping the vacuum pump till you get some pressure , then bleed , not using the levers , just the pump , keep doing it making sure to keep the master full , then close off the bleeder and try the lever , it should build up , once it does , then hold pressure on it and open the bleeder , then once the lever bottoms , then close it while still holding pressure , , release it , then refill the master and go thru the vacuum pump without using the lever , it should now be clear fluid with no air bubbles , if it still has bubbles , do the same procedure till it does not .... sometimes these things get finicky and will get the slightest air pocket and that is all it takes to keep the pressure from holding ... good luck and report back ... you should be able to do this ...
