    Swingarm Locking Adjuster Nut STUCK!

    by Twentyonemx » Thu Feb 25, 2021 4:31 pm

The locking nut on the left side of my swingerarm adjustment bolt won't budge. I've rounded off the nut trying to get it to loosen. I have cut a notch in it to try and turn it with a hammer and flat head screwdriver... still won't turn. Any suggestions???

What you can try is .... remove the wheel ... use a 10mm socket and preferably some kind of electric , or battery powered or pneumatic impact (to get a ratcheting effect) , and try to remove the entire bolt ... going at it with the wheel removed gives you direct straight access to the bolt and it should make it easier to remove and means you can use a 6 point socket so as to help prevent stripping the bolt head ...... I am thinking if you break the entire bolt loose then it should come free .... if not , they do make a repair kit if the threads inside the swingarm become damaged , but usually the impact will allow the entire bolt to be removed , then you can either replace them with another , or attempt to salvage the bolt and just replace the nut from a hardware store .....

Good points by Jim. After you get it corrected - Use some anti-seize compound to keep that from happening again.

And spray the likes of WD40 or kroil up the hole swish it around and let it drain out. Should get rid of the moisture that caused the problem in first place.
