Total newbie to crf’s

I have recently bought a rolling chassis and am wondering what my options could be

I believe it is a 2008 chassis but not sure what cc. Maybe someone could tell me how to find out. The frame number is slightly worn away.

There is a crf250l engine for sale locally, would this fit? I am wanting to make a trail bike. I am struggling to find any other engines here in the uk. I have access to a machine shop and am not scared to make brackets etc to make something fit. I was even considering an xr air cooled engine but i would take all your opinions. Regards

I think that the crf250l engine would fit just fine, plus, it's a solid mechanical base with a pretty decent support in terms of spares and information.
