Will gas with oil mix make CRF230 run hot?

Getting ready to go riding yesterday, not much sunlight left, my husband grabbed the gas-with-oil can that was for my rocket that I didn't keep, and threw that gas into my CRF.
Not far into riding, the exhaust pipe got so hot it's got fingerprints from my glove on it now.
I bought it used, it ran kind of okay at first (attributed that to it sitting quite a while before purchase) but whenever I opened it up, it would start gagging and then stall out. So I rebuilt the carb, it starts and runs beautifully now (I am so proud of myself :D ). Yesterday was not the first time I took it out after fixing the carburetor. It was the second time, and I swear it didn't get that hot the last time. Is it possible it was the gas-with-oil mix?
I've been reading in your (now our) lovely forum, and it seems that there are all sorts of mechanical things that might cause this. But I want to start with the simplest-- timeframe oriented-- possible explanation. So: is it possible it was the gas-with-oil mix?

Hi Skriding,
Good on you with the carby rebuild. The 230 pipe does run hot.

With 2 strokes altering the amount of oil in the fuel should be done with a jetting change. The reasoning behind that is more oil means less fuel i.e. a leaner mixture. What sort of fuel oil mix was in the can?
This sounds what has happened in you case.
Hopefully you didn't ride too far before you realised.
If the pipe wasn't glowing red you would be no worse then factory jetting.

Drain the tank and put in fresh fuel and see how that goes.
The oil in the fuel shouldn't clog the carby but flush it through with straight fuel when you do a test ride. Drain the bowl if you don't ride regularly.

If that fixes the problem with the hot pipe then sweet, otherwise jump back on and post the results. What jetting do you have at the moment and what year is your bike?

Thank you 🌸 Aussie

I did the carb from the CYCLEPEDIA service manual. Whatever setting I have came from there.

I'm going to drain it, like you say.

I'll let you know if it works 😎

I only ask about the jetting because the factory jetting is quite lean and can give a hot header pipe. But lets see how changing fuel goes.

You can run it, or drain it and use it in the lawn mower. That is my default fuel disposal source.
