Hello, new member with my first CRF

Hello, I'm 42, male, 5'11", 190lbs. I've been riding dual sports and street bikes since I was a teenager but never bought a dedicated dirt bike before. After 5-6 years of not having any motorcycles, I decided to get a dirt bike to ride with my brothers. We are all middle age now and decided to get dirt bikes to give us something to do together.

I used to be very daring and carefree but after a couple of scary incidents on street bikes, I gave it up. Too many people not paying attention and I don't want to die that way. I decided to start small and bought a 150f. My brothers make fun of me because they have 250 MX bikes but I honestly like it. It's not scary and I can enjoy it. It's small enough to handle in the really difficult terrain.

I checked out a KTM 450 before I bought the CRF150f. It was too much bike for me at this time. I used to ride a KLR650 and a V-Strom 650 so even though I can manage a large bike, it's not fun for me to wrestle through the mud and sand and pick it up. I would rather have something smaller and lighter to just ride at this point.

Hi Speedsix and welcome to the site.
I hear what you are saying and there is nothing wrong with have a play bike, and the 150f can be lots of fun and low on the maintainance to boot. Same reason I got the 230. I don't bounce off the ground like I could when I was 20 either.

All that matters is that you have a bike you like and is comfortable and fun for you. Motorcycling is fun and that is what needs to be kept in context. :D Enjoy the bike and you can always change to whatever you desire at anytime - that's also one of the fun parts of being a rider - changing and trying different bikes or riding venues. ;)

The only mods I've done is bar risers, shimmed the front shock and stiffened the rear and added Tusk barkbusters. It is a 2004 but looked almost new when I bought it. The guy said it had been rode three times by his wife and she stopped riding it. I believed him. I want to do the uncorking and jetting but I'm not sure it needs it. It seems to run just fine for me. Maybe I'm just not skilled enough off road to require more power yet.
