That is exciting to see that Honda finally felt some pressure from the bike Yamaha introduced. The X, although still terrific, is in it's 13th year.
The classic X will be unchanged, this is the new RX.
My observations are:
Fuel injection
Electric start
Kickstand.
Noticeably lighter
All awesome!
On the potentially not so awesome side:
No wide ratio tranny. Still waiting for confirmation
No head or tail light. I can live with that. No word on a lighting coil
Dual mufflers and no spark arrestors. I hope that is a misprint. Not USFS legal without getting your wallet out.
Anxious to hear rider reviews. This sounds like a relatively nimble hot rod.

Reading the Racer X article , it sounds like the 250/450X will be the same ??? , i saw nothing about "New" or "EFI" or "Changes" "lightweight" , all that was said about "NEW" was about the R/X , but not the X itself , it sounds like the same bike i have in my garage that was built in 06

, looks like the people of Europe will get a new X and we will have to sit here and stare at the 12 year old design that the X has had since inception , i will say , Yamaha has hit it out of the park with its YZX 2 stroke 250 and its 450 FX , and it still has the WR250/450 , fast nice looking bikes with the consumers in mind , Honda and the 450X , not so much , and both the 250 and 450X look disappointingly the same as always , i do not see dual pipes , or EFI anywhere in those pictures of the X , even the graphics look pretty much as they have since 08

Ok, Im back. Lurking for info on the new '17r. I had the most beautiful '08. It was perfect. Why I sold it I will never know. I wanted to try the orange kool-aid I guess. So I bought a pimped 12.5 450 factory edition...and I hate it. It will just not lay over stable. I need that. Its why I ride, take out aggression, etc. RG3 did it up. Spring the whole bit, still just cannot get it dialed. Been in the dealer (where they have the '17 SX avail) and no 450r yet. It's almost Nov. Am I really going to wait will Dec?! Should I just get a '16 and put a spring fork on it? Ug I want a new bike.

Personally, I'd wait and get the '17. According to everyone I know who has ridden one it's that good to warrant waiting.

What Ken said ! Why by a "new" outdated 2016 bike ? Be patient and get the latest and greatest. Start at the head of the back. It would be far better money spent.

I'm yet to hear anyone who has ridden one not have high praise for it. I do wish there was a wide-ratio transmission option available.
