So my pack started right here. After a rather large jump my pack was riding on my back tire and my fender was all bent up. I wanted to bounce my new idea off the wise people here and see what you think.
I got a piece of 1/4" Stainless steel and was going to drill 4 holes that would match up with the front fender. It would stick out around 10" above the fender and I would mount the pack on it. Any thoughts????

the adventure pack is blue ridge racing largest pack. fully loaded with extras it can get heavy so i'm not too surprised about what happened.

on the front mount: great idea and it should work. only a couple of suggestions, first, bend the mount plate it to match the curvature of the fender and then mount to the fender so it can serve double duty as a fender brace. second, the pack is about the width of the forks so a transverse mounting would bring the weight in closer to the triple clamp. you could probably transverse mount it on the rear fender too and it would then be closer to the sub-frame and it might not do what it did mounted the other direction.

good luck and be sure to show us your final setup.

The stainless I picked up is 4" wide and will fit between the forks. I'm not sure how far apart the mounting holes are on the pack but that is a good idea. Thanks,

another option would be to get the Pro Moto Billet rack and use that to mount the pack and any other gear you need to take with you. here's a link:

I thought about that but I like do a lot of hills and it has me concerned about what would happen during a rear exit. My buddy saw a guy get stuck on his pack when trying to jump off the back on a hill.
