Hello,
Thinking about changing to unbreakable levers before I break the stock ones (back ups) Any thoughts on replacing the perch also??

I have the ASV 1 levers with the perch.

The ASV 1 levers are of good quality and a bit cheeper but they do not have a dust cover for the clutch cable.

ASV 3 have a dust cover. http://asvinventions.com/levers_order/F ... _road.html

I put an ASV3 clutch lever on my son's XR80 and now it is easier form him to reach the clutch lever. If you have young kids the ASV levers work great.

Every one of you have more opinions than any 3 people I know. Kick down with the advise here:)

My Cycras take care of my stock levers so I don't worry about ASV's. :) I carry a spare lever in my pack as well. Just don't need it. Ten bucks each at my local Cycle Gear! :) You can get a perch that slips if you want. Still cheaper than ASV.

Slightly off topic but ...

I use the stock levers and perches ... plus Acerbis hand guards ..

I have put a flat washer and split washer under the stock M6 8mm head bolts and this allows me to loosen them enough so the perch can rotate and not break a lever

The washers are needed to keep tension on the bolt so it doesn't loosen right off

AVS levers also help with hand placement. You can adjust the reach that is required to manipulate the levers. The unbreakable part is just a plus.

I put teflon tape around the bars under the clamp that holds the levers. You can tighten the clamp bolts but the teflon will allow the assembly to rotate if you take a fall.

I have ASV 3 clutch with perch and thumb hot start. I also have the brake lever. I love these. Adjustable reach, better feel, smooth action, ball bearing pivot, unbreakable, trick looking and reasonably priced. The perch clamps to a sleeve that rotates on the bar in a crash. Can't go wrong. I've also had the Works Connection lever and perch on other bike. Very nice but higher priced.
