    Crooked Front Wheel

    by Wilcox » Wed Jun 27, 2007 7:40 pm

Just wondering if there is any specific cause to a front wheel that is slightly out of alignment with the fender. It doesnt affect the handling of the bike or anything and i know that many bikes have this "problem". It only takes one decent crash to make it crooked but im a bit of a perfectionist and i was just wondering if there was any easy fix to the problem. Or is the likely cause something as bad as slightly tweaked suspension and is unfixable.

I know this kind of sounds like a stupid question but i was just curious what the likely cause if the alignment issue is.

Not a silly question at all

I suspect you have "twisted" the front whell in the forks ...

A couple of ways to fix ...

Stand in front of bike with front wheel between your knees and using the bars push in the direction to get the wheel back in line with your guard

If this doesnt work then put bike up on stand so front wheel is off the ground and loosen the triple clamp bolts ( that hold the forks ) and axle clamp bolts - not too much or it will all fall apart - it should now be a simple case to line everything up again

When all aligned make sure to do up all the bolts you loosened to the correct torque settings.

A good time to invest in some lock tight while things are loose.
