I pick it up next weekend, but I'm researching in the meantime. With the money I saved on this deal, I have $1000 left over to add parts. So, I'd like to see what everyone else is using. Here's the plan:

I live in Houston, TX so I ride the Sam Houston national forest's tight, single track and plan to get into Mexico for some DS stuff on occasion, so I need to legalize this bike.

    1. I've picked out the Baja designs Dual sport kit, flush signal upgrade, and mirror and mount. That's $440 + 55 + 19 + 16 = $530.

    2. Trail tech Vapor enduro computer and indicator dashboard. That's $120 + 40 = $160.

Ok, so far that's $690 total leaving me $310. Now for the questions:

    3. Will I need a stator rewind or other components with the Bala Designs kit?

    4. When I remove the stock speedo drive gear, how do I protect the hub and bearings? A search turned up a hint to "Flatland." Problem is I only saw radiator guards for a KTM. http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id/780

    5. Gotta get barkbusters..any recommendations? For heavily wooded, tight single-track, is it recommended to get aluminum backed guards. http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id/466

    6. Skidplates..again need recommendations. http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id/934

    7. I havent picked up the bike yet but I believe it comes with disc protectors. If not... ?

    8. Tool Kit? Who?

    9. Service manual. The Clymer I had was adaquate for taking care of the XL, but there has to be something better. Is the official Honda manual available and worth anything?

    10. What else that would be considered mandatory that I probably forgotten? http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/prod...oducts_id/1093

I'm probably going over budget but I can live without the computer right away.

I went there twice today when nobody was posting here. (time to kill) To be honest I didn't like the set up of the site. I like how this site is so straight forward without all the crap.
    Thanks Ken
