I have an 06 450x and I want to replace my coolant with engine ice. First of all how do I drain my old coolant. I couldnt find any good links on this subject.

engine ice is good stuff...so good choice there. the manual has a good description of this...but the main thing is to make sure there's no air in the coolant system. once you put the coolant in make sure you run it and blip the throttle a few times to get any air out. top it off and repeat.

Hey Ken I wonder if you read the write up a while back re: coolant they compared several and stated Engine Ice was better at keeping a bike cool at continous higher RPMs, I run the EI and have never had any problems or any loss of fluids either, am just curious if another additive is "better than EI.

it's the only coolant we sell and use...it's worked very well for us so we have stuck with it. i haven't seen a comparative analysis of other brands.

I beg to differ on this....I put engine Ice in about 200 miles ago and so far i have heated to a boil more times since i put it in than total before (probly have close to 1000 miles now). With good airflow it works great, but in the extreme tight technical trails it seems to heat up very quickly, then upon opening it up to some airflow it cools down very rapidly. Maybe its just me i dunno, but i did do the complete flush exactly as their website instructs

Since your concerned with running hot I would also change out your radiator cap with the SRC High-Pressure Radiator Cap. You can get them from crf's only store. It's worth the $32.00.

I am going to have to agree with you, I have found on two different occasions while riding in tight technical trails that my 450x decided to puke (boil over). Also when I am riding with my kid's, my machine will boil over. I am using the Engine Ice and the SRC 1.6 Rad cap, yet another mystery unsolved.
