2002 XR 200 Valve clearance specs. Need Help

I have a friend in our church (single mother) whos son has a 2002 XR 200. The valves are ticking and need to be adjusted. Does anyone know the specs for this bike.

Is there a video to watch for proper service on this bike.

    Intake valve = .002" or .05mm

    Exhaust Valve = .003" or .08mm

I highly recommend investing in a service manual.

In lieu of a service manual, remove the spark plug, both valve adjuster inspection caps on the head and the dyno cover plate.

Rotate the engine until both valve rocker arms go down to open the valves and come back up. On the dyno/mag side, check that the line on the flywheel lines up with the tdc (top dead center) mark. Most likely there will be a 'F' (fire) mark and a 'T' (top dead center) mark. Line it up with the 'T' mark.

At this point there should be clearance between the rocker arm adjusting screw and the valve stem. Check this with a feeler gauge between the adjuster and the valve stem and adjust accordingly. Be sure to tighten the lock nut on the adjuster screw and then replace all covers.

Thank you ~. It thought that was the specs, but it has been about 10 years since I have fooled with one of these bikes.

I did a few adjustments when I was in college, but again, it has been at least 10 years.
