    Boot Dilemma

    by 230forme2 » Wed Apr 18, 2007 1:21 pm

Here is my situation. One size boot has my toe just touching the end and the next size up feels like it is too big everywhere. What is a person to do since there are not any half sizes that I am aware of?

Try as many manufacturers as possible. All boots are not the same dimensions regardless of the size designation. SIDI crossfires do come in 1/2 sizes.

buy two pairs of diffrent sizes, then find a friend with a smiliar problem to give the other pair to. just kidding.

As people said check other boots because you could get a similar size that runs small and you will have a tighter foot and one that is closer to the front. Comprimise man.

Bring a couple of pairs of socks with you to the dealership/shop and try several pairs of different manufacturers on. You should walk around in each pair for a few minutes (until your feet warm up the boot) and feel for any areas of discomfort.

In my experience the more you pay, the more comfortable the boots are out of the box, but they all require some form of break in.

My Fox boots ( I paid $139.95 at the dealer where we bought our bikes, and they knocked 25% off )are just getting broken in after my fourth ride with them. A little sweat works wonders.

Also important to consider for the boot purchase are the ease and security of the buckles. Do they stay latched? Also, does the manufacturer make replacement buckles and soles which can extend the life of a boot (once the upper part of the boot is broken in, if well cared for, can last a long time).

My old AXO's had a draw string closure that helped to cinch the gathered inside boot material that my Fox's don't have. But I just tuck the stuff in and make sure its comfortable.

Good luck, also use the search feature here to find out what brands people prefer for durability and pricing. You have tapped a fantastic resource. :-D
