    air filter question

    I was wondering does anyone know if it is the same air filter on a 02 crf 450 r will be compatable with a crf250x ? (the wife just picked one up for me and thats what it says on the pack but asked for one for a 250

    You need Part # 10300G.

    ill just have to go and change it -if only the people in the shop had half the knowledge of the people on this forum -wouldnt life be great !!!!
    p.s its only until i get my twin air filter -just for a race on sunday

    Yea tell me about it. Just got a chain from the local dealer they worked out that my new sprockets would work with a 112L chain but turns out it needed to be more like a 116L. That means another week of no riding.

    hi there
    well im still in one piece after the race ,it was a great day as it was dry (not very common in these parts of the world )had to finish after 2h 10mins as i had a little mishap and did in the left rad -one question -will i have done any damage to the bike because i did about 2 laps before i realised id put a hole in the rad -i never noticed any difference in the performance of the bike and it was quite a technical track so it was slowish going .
    i know ,i know RAD BRACES !!just waiting to get a few things wrapped up before i get them and other things for my bike (money)

    Could you hear evidence of the radiator water boiling when you stopped? If not, you are probably OK unless they were dry... :shock: Small amounts of loss are OK.

    hi
    I coundnt hear any bubling or hissing but they looked pretty dry -im going to strip it out later but ive a funny feelin they are dry -if so, what would the damage likely to be? engine rebuild ?will it be major work -should i send it off to get checked out or will i repair the rad and take it for a spin and see what happens ?

    If the engine overheated severely, you could have warped parts, cracked water jackets, etc.

    If it didn't, a radiator swap might be all you need.

    At a minimum, you should plan on a water pump seal as it is lubed by the coolant.

    Great job on the race and good luck on the repairs.

    Does it leak sitting still and cool? You could measure the amount that you drain for some idea where you may have been, if it didn't sit and leak over a period of time. Where is the hole and how big?

    The radiator is aluminum so I am not sure you can easily repair it yourself. A good repair shop might.

    ill give you more info tonight after i take a proper look -i didnt have the heart or energy to look last night ,
    im sending it off to get repaired as i already have done a repair with jb weld and this time it has a fair twist to it -maybe i should by a new one but as usual its also time for new tires, chain, sprockets and off course rad guards

    Ok here is the post mortom results

    i drained the coolant (only about 100ml left) and stripped out the left rad -it got a bang on the side and has put a twist in it and reopened the old repair also seems to have a leak near the top and also fairly bashed - so ive sent it off to be repaired -
    should i order anything to replace before i get the rad back or should i just get it back and test it then -is there any thing i should be looking out for -
    as- is it just called a water pump seal -and is this hard to replace or should i send it out and have my mechanic give it a check over -im trying to keep costs down as im running a tight budget
    thanks for advice

    p.s results from the race are in and i by the 3rd lap i had 14 th fastest lap out of 138 riders and that was my first race !! over here they dont really do many mods to there bikes unless there top riders so i cant wait to do the mods for the next one and see there faces when i go flying by

    On the right side of the engine where the water pump is located, there is a "weep" hole. If the water pump seal is bad, water will be coming out of that hole.

    No water, No worries! :lol:
