    by revs » Tue Apr 10, 2007 6:02 am

Has any one got any tips to reduce blisters/welts
ive been riding quite hard the last while but i seem to get them in the same few places on my hands -ive tried holding on lighter etc - just got new gloves -(which i think made it worse ?)
also shopuld i let them harden up or try to soften them up as i have a race this weekend and they are still a little sore and will be getting worse as the day goes on

quite a few of my buddies wear the thin gloves designed for under your normal gloves and swear by them for eliminating blisters.

Not sure if Ken carries any or not, check his store.

My Buddy gets blisters as well.He puts baby powder inside his gloves and changes his gloves after every moto.Works for him.

Also, try a different compound/pattern for grips. Practice squeezing the bike more with your legs so you don't get the death grip. And you can try baby powder. I use spray antiperspirant

one easy thing to over look is your controls. you need to make sure you have enough space at the front of the grip for it to flex freely when your gripping it. for example, if your kill switch or is too close to the grip you'll get a blister for sure on the inside area of your thumb.

as others said, control your grip force, gloves that fit well are a must, grips that work for your hands.

I echo the comment about squeezing more with your legs.

Plus, when I do get blisters. I let them get hard and it helps. If you cut them off, it will feel better for a little bit but they will come back and hurt more than if you left them there. I get a massive blister from my wedding band, but I just leave it now. It's gnarly, looks like I stuck my palm in french fry grease like the Ding fries are done guy.

Try mole skin. You can get it at the drug store. It is for feet. You cut off a small piece and place it where it hurts and it cushions the area. it is sticky on one side like a band-aid. you can even put it over broken blisters.just cut a hole like a doughnut and put it around the blister.
