    250X or 450R??

    by redneck250 » Tue Apr 03, 2007 7:04 am

Just wondering if you guys could give me some outside info? I'm 6'1 190lbs a long way from being a pro but I can hold my own. I currently own 05 250X but have had nothing but problems with it (bogging, dead spots in accel, starting problems valve adjustments) it has been to the doctor countless times and to no mercy has not got any better. So needless to say they are not my favorite people. I might have a chance to get my hands on a 04 450R but do not know if it is to much bike. My other option is a kawasaki 250f but I am partial to ride RED. Any help would be great.!! Thanks

Red, what mods have you done to your 250X. It's unusual to have the kinds of issues that you are reporting if your maintenance is good and you have it modded and jetted appropriately.

Jaws: Its still stock! regular oil changes, valve checks ect. Anything other than reg maintenance is done by the dealer. I'm pretty much at a loss and am ready to try a whole new bike.

Man, you need to mod that thing first. Open the airbox, jet it correctly, perhaps mod the exhaust and you will enjoy a whole new bike! We can provide the guidance if you are interested. Look around in the 250X forum and you will see testimonial after testimonial about the change in the machine when things are right.

If your going to make the jump to the 450r you'll just have to take some time to get use to it. I'm only 5'5 and 140 lbs and I don't have a problem with my 450r, you just need to know your, and the bikes limits.

IF you don't want to make the jump up to the 450's and enjoy the 250's have u thought about maybe looking into a newer model of the X or even and R????? I am 14 5'8 and 150lbs i think in your way of saying it. I love my bike its a CRF250R 2007 only had it six months but its great really light and good in trails and on the track.

Hey redneck250,with proper mods and maintence you should not be having alot of problems, but on the other hand the 250,s will need more TLC compared to the 450,s.If your considering going more cc,s,trust me you will get used to Big Red,good luck with whatever you do.
